Get Your Kicks
Route 66 proves a favorite for traveling
June 3, 2010
ERIE Customer Deborah Nelson’s found a great way to kick back and enjoy the wind in her hair—Good ole Route 66, in her home state of Illinois. She and her two kids went cruising in Deborah’s classic ’65 Mustang (what else?) this past spring.
“We made friends in the small towns along our journey--it had a way of restoring my hope in the values of the people in our great country,” she said. Their trip through the Land of Lincoln took them to many nostalgic places, including the Cozy Dog Drive In and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, both in Springfield, Ill., and the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame and Museum.
“It was a low-cost vacation and a wonderful way to get reacquainted with American history—we loved it,” she said.
