Contribution and Funding Guidelines

Erie Insurance makes charitable contributions to:

• Nonprofit, tax exempt organizations under Section 501(c)3 of the U.S, Internal Revenue Code.
• Accredited educational institutions.

Erie Insurance does not fund:

• Churches and religious organizations. Programs affiliated with faith-based organizations are eligible for funding as long as the programming serves the whole community, regardless of religious affiliation.
• Political and labor organizations.
• National organizations (local chapters of national organizations may be considered when funding is expected to support the local community).
• Any organization or project that does not align with ERIE’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. ERIE’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is reflected in our corporate values to live by the Golden Rule: to treat others as we want to be treated. ERIE seeks to sustain this commitment through our mission to recognize, respect and value the diversity of all individuals, in all segments of the communities where we work, live and do business.
• Endowments.

The Erie Giving Network has created new guidelines for contributions and funding. Specifically:

• Non-profit 501(c)3 organizations requesting funds should be located in the areas served by Erie Insurance.
• Erie Insurance will accept one request from an organization per year.
• Requests should support one of our community areas of focus: Arts and Culture, Civic and Community, Education, Health and Human Services and the Insurance Industry.
• For consideration, requests will be directed to the ERIE office closest to the requesting organization.
• National organizations will be funded at the local level.

Priority will be given to organizations that demonstrate commitment to their communities by ensuring their governing bodies include representatives from within the communities they serve.

Organizations should complete and submit a funding request form during the following periods:

Quarter	Deadline
First	Jan. 21, 2010
Second	March 4, 2010
Third	June 17, 2010
Fourth	Oct. 25, 2010

Apply by completing and submitting the Requesting Funds form. Please allow six to eight weeks for processing of all requests.
