Luck Meets Opportunity

Dwight Williams

A four-leaf clover and a folded newspaper clipping remind Dwight Williams he’s the luckiest man in the world.

“I have control over my destiny," says Dwight. My success or failure is directly related to my willingness to work hard and my desire to succeed. I can choose my clients. The challenge is mine and so are the rewards.” He keeps the clipping, entitled “Proud to be an Agent,” in his pocket calendar so he can share it with new Erie Insurance Agents every chance he gets.

Dwight built the Williams Insurance Group in Belle Vernon, Pa., from scratch and in a few years watched his annual premium grow from zero to more than $2 million.

“I stay in constant contact with my customers, and I’m always looking for new business,” says Dwight, “but what it really comes down to is the company you represent—the relationships you have with people. I can call anybody at Erie Insurance and get them on the phone—whether it’s someone at the local branch, my underwriter at the Home Office or the president of the company. We have some of the best claims people in the business. They help you keep accounts.”
