What’s it like to be a District Sales Manager? The District Sales Manager position is not a job it is a life style.  The DSM position is a fast-paced position in which I serve as a liaison between ERIE and our agency force.  As a DSM, I also represent ERIE at many public events; such as, trade shows, banquets, seminars and conferences.

What do you do in a day’s work? As a DSM there is no such thing as a typical day, every day is different.  My daily routine ranges from meeting with agents, training agency staff, resolving policyholder concerns, attending conferences and meetings with commercial policyholders and policyholder prospects.

What prepared you most for your current position?  My background in claims and customer service was extremely important in preparing me to become a District Sales Manager.  Having good time management skills is also a critical component to this position.

Why ERIE?  Erie is not the first insurance carrier I have worked for; however, it will be the last.  The family environment that Erie fosters and encourages; in addition to the professional growth of its employees is unique and something I value in an employer.  The active role Erie Insurance takes in the community by partnering with organizations; such as Habitat for Humanity is also a huge reason why I chose Erie Insurance.

How do you deliver outstanding service?  I deliver outstanding service on a daily basis by consistently making myself available to our internal and external customers.  It is also important to follow ERIE’s Golden Rule - always treat others the way you would want to be treated.

If not insurance, then … Any position dealing with the public that enables me to have a positive impact on my community.

Education: B.A. from Lincoln University (Pa.)

Outside interests: I enjoy spending time with my 12-year-old daughter, Averi, and watching her develop into a positive, productive young woman.

Best stress reliever: Jogging.

Best ERIE moment: Delivering a $10,000 check, with Silver Spring Branch Manager Sandy Dorsey, to a policyholder family who had a house fire 3 days before Christmas and giving Christmas gifts to the family’s 2 children.
