Contractor Mike White (front) celebrates the completion of the Frisch house for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Occupation: Co-owner of the Buckeye Real Estate Group
Where you may have seen him: Walking side-by-side with Ty Pennington on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” this past November. The Buckeye Real Estate Group was the builder and lead contractor for a house built for the Frisch family of Toledo. Aaron and Jackie Frisch have 11 sons, three biological and eight adopted. Aaron’s a Toledo firefighter and paramedic, while Jackie is an ordained minister and counselor with health issues.
A charitable heart: The Buckeye folks tapped into their many community ties to ensure the donation of time and resources needed to build the Frisch’s house in a week.
“It was truly inspiring to see the number of people who stepped forward without hesitation to give their time and their money and their talents to pull this off,” said White. “We asked these people to give of themselves, and they did.”
A solid foundation: Buckeye has built more than 200 homes in area subdivisions and received many awards from the Home Builders Association of Greater Toledo. They’ve also participated in the construction of six Habitat for Humanity homes.
“Seeing a house come together in 99 hours was fantastic,” White said, “but to see the experience that the people and the community had was even more worthwhile.”
Fan feedback: Since the adventure began, Buckeye has received more than 2 million Web site hits and countless e-mails and phone calls of thanks and congratulations from others in the community.
In a nutshell: “It was the best week of my life.”
Why he’s with ERIE: “I was introduced to ERIE through my affiliation with the Home Builders Association of Toledo,” said White. “Erie has been excellent to deal with and competitively priced. My agent Jim Rupp has always been responsive to my needs.”
