George WashingtonThe George Washington Foundation, an ERIE customer, confirmed discovery of Washington's boyhood home at Ferry Farm in July 2008. The site, located in Stafford Co., Va., will help interpreters fill in the stories of this part of Washington’s life. The discovery made national news and ran in newspapers in all 50 states. More than 20,000 people visited the site last summer, and the foundation expects the amount of visitors to grow this year. Read the full story.

A Video Message from Teens to Teens
Quit Clowning Around!Drop the doughnut, forget the cell phone, and quit clowning around! That's the message teens at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in Syracuse, N.Y. are sending their driving peers in the latest student-directed public service announcement (PSA), produced in conjunction with Erie Insurance's Lookin' Out program.

Erie Insurance created Lookin' Out nearly 10 years ago to address the number one killer of teens—auto accidents. The program uses positive peer reinforcement through messages created by students for their friends. Learn more about Lookin' Out.

Buying a Car? Think Safety First

Sure, they're cute, inexpensive—and they save on gas. But are minicars really safe? The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports they aren't.

According to the study, consumers who buy microcars or minicars may be sacrificing safety, even though their reasons for buying a small car may be good. The bottom line is that in a collision involving two vehicles that differ in size and weight, the people in the smaller, lighter vehicle will be at a disadvantage every time. Read the full story on
