Oct. 23, 2013 - Fifteen Erie Insurance Employees and Agents, representing the New York Branch and several local insurance agencies, packed and delivered food for Meals on Wheels on Oct 8.
ERIE Agent Peter Wallin of Wallin Insurance, who is on the board of Meals on Wheels, worked with ERIE Employees Branch Manager Shane Badon, District Sales Manage Mark Schafer, Senior Community Outreach Specialist Diann Graham to plan the event. Agents from W.J . Farmer Agency and Piper Insurance Agency also participated.
The volunteer team formed a caravan of ERIE-branded wrapped cars to deliver more than 70 healthy meals along six Meals on Wheels routes in the Elmira area.
New York Branch Employees and Agents teamed up to prepare meals and deliver them in ERIE-branded fleet cars.
“This was more than just writing a check; we spent an entire morning preparing the food and then delivering it to the community,” said Wallin. “We got to take off our insurance hats and put on our volunteer hats for the day to support our local community.”
Community outreach is an important piece of the framework that makes up ERIE. Agent and Employee community engagement and service give ERIE the opportunity to create a connection with Customers to show them that, while ERIE is a business, it places a high value on giving back to those who need it.“Customers love seeing our Agents and Employees working together, giving back and helping to make a difference locally,” said Graham. “We are exceptionally proud of our Agents and Employees who help bring our brand to life through their service.”
