Great Lakes Insurance Services Group was established in 1969 in Erie, Pennsylvania, and expanded to Salamanca, New York, after purchasing the Gary Brown Insurance Agency in 2012. Representing Erie Insurance, the full-service agency offers personal and commercial lines of insurance. Erie Insurance sells auto, home and business insurance through our network of independent agents in 12 states and the District of Columbia. Great Lakes Insurance Services Group is licensed to help clients in all 12 ERIE states.

Award-Winning Service

Principal agent, founding partner and owner Pete Zaphiris has over 25 years of insurance experience. Pete earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Gannon University in 1986 and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Great Lakes has also earned the Erie Insurance F.W. Hirt Quality Agency of the Year Award and is a consistent Erie Elite Award winner.
