Affordable and Safe: The Best Used Cars for Teens

Do you have a teen driver —or a teen who will be behind the wheel soon—in your home? If so, chances are good they’re looking forward to their very first car.

But what are the best used cars for teens? While there’s a good chance that the car’s appearance is your teen’s main criterion, it’s likely that yours is very different.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) understands where you’re coming from. That’s why they recently looked into which used cars are both safe and affordable for teen drivers.

The good news? There are plenty of options from which to choose. The IIHS reports that the list has grown by more than 50 percent in just one year, even though the price and safety criteria haven't changed.
