Though El Dia de los Muertos literally means “day of the dead” in Spanish, there’s nothing lifeless about this traditional Mexican holiday.
Over the first two days of November, celebrants remember those they lost by building colorful shrines and camping out at loved ones’ cemeteries. Parades and colorful dance performances can also be part of the mix.
You can experience El Dia de los Muertos along with ERIE and Diversity Insurance this Saturday from noon to four at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen outside of Richmond, Virginia. ERIE is the exclusive sponsor of this free, family friendly event that features live music, arts and crafts, exhibits and performances from the famed Latin Ballet of Virginia. Sweet treats will be on hand, and you’re invited to wear a costume!
