Introduction: Generations of ERIE Employees have lived the promise to be Above all in SERVICESM. It’s a staple of the company’s foundation and a value that is deeply rooted in our history and culture. The slogan was coined by founder H.O. Hirt, and is embedded in everything we do. Listen to how one ERIE Employee recently delivered this promise of service.
ERIE Employees volunteer for many good causes. Fran Schlabach does more than volunteer. For three years she’s organized all of ERIE’s fundraising and volunteer activities for March of Dimes.
Fran Schlabach, technical writer: “A good friend of mine was working on the March of Dimes committee and said that they could use some help. So, I was more than willing to volunteer and help out with that organization.
“My role on the committee for the March of Dimes fundraising activity starts with simple things — planning out the calendar for the year, setting up agendas for meetings, for our committee, so that we have a structure to follow so that we know that we’re hitting all our goals and our targets.
“I work directly with the local March of Dimes organization to be sure that we’re doing all of the things that they’re expecting from us and we need their support, for example, to bring them here for our Home Office kick off.”
Diane Sickles, March of Dimes: “We feel very fortunate to have Fran coordinate the Erie Insurance Group team. She is very organized, very dedicated, very passionate. She puts a lot of time and effort into our annual fundraising event, primarily the March for Babies. It’s just a pleasure working with her because she brings a lot of excitement, creativity and passion to her efforts.
“Fran and her crew really do a great job. It’s a huge undertaking to raise the amounts that Erie Insurance Group does and to coordinate 200 walkers annually. It’s a 12-month campaign but it really takes a lot of time and dedication throughout the year in keeping the excitement and enthusiasm going.”
Fran: “I would say that it’s just really an honor to work with the Erie Insurance Employees. Every year I do this I’m amazed by the generosity and just the overall enthusiasm that the Employees have and are so willing to give to the community. It’s just a wonderful environment to work in.”
Closing: Stories like the one you just heard are one way that ERIE is keeping its commitment to being Above all in SERVICESM. Employees like this make The ERIE a unique and different insurance company.
