HOW WE WORK
Making a Difference
At Erie Insurance, we work in collaboration with our employees, agents, grantees and community organizations whether it’s supplying volunteers to pack boxes at the local food bank or raising money for causes that are close to our heart like the annual Thanksgiving dinner drive. Granting funding requests to nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in the community is so important to us, but it’s only part of our story. To stretch our support as far as we can, we’re focused on six areas of giving. Here are the details and more examples of the ways that we care.
We collaborate with nonprofit organizations like the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, the United Way and community foundations. Our employees also volunteer at Pfeiffer Burleigh School in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Whether it’s a fundraising event or a walk, our agents and employees pitch in to support community organizations like the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and community events and festivals.
ERIE executives and senior leaders have opportunities to give to causes that matter to them and their employees.
Members of our board are involved with the Giving Network and review funding requests over certain thresholds.
Employee initiatives such as the Erie Service Corp and the Matching Gifts program let employees give back to causes that they care about the most. Through Erie Service Corps, teams of employees have the opportunity to volunteer during the workweek.
Each year, we honor nearly two dozen agencies that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service. We donate $2,500 to a charity chosen by each award winner. All of our field offices have sponsorship and donation opportunities, too, with Giving Grants.
