ERIE recognized for offering one of the nation’s best health and well-being programs for employees
ERIE, Pa. (October 7, 2020) – The Business Group on Health, a nonprofit association of more than 440 large employers, today honored Erie Insurance for providing one of the best workforce health and employee well-being programs in the nation.
Erie Insurance is among 39 U.S. employers that received 2020 Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-Being awards at the Business Group’s virtual Workforce Strategy 2020 Conference. The company has been recognized by the Washington, D.C.-based association for 12 consecutive years, and this is ERIE’s second Platinum award.
Platinum is the Business Group’s highest distinction and recognizes companies that implemented an innovative workforce well-being strategy with demonstrated results. ERIE was one of only 18 companies to earn top honors this year and joins an elite group that includes American Express, Dell, Delta Airlines, Hewlett Packard, UnitedHealth Group and several other national brands.
“We are honored to be recognized as a platinum award winner by the Business Group on Health for 2020,” said MaryAnn Marchant, who administers ERIE’s wellness programs as a benefits analyst in Total Rewards. “For 95 years, Erie Insurance has been committed to the ‘ERIE Family’ and ensuring that our employees are healthy, happy and engaged — before, during and after work.”
Marchant, who will celebrate 40 years at ERIE this year, added that the company’s consistency and holistic approach to employee health and well-being is a competitive advantage.
“This is a big win for us, but to remain a leader in this area we must continue to innovate,” she added. “Our teams are already working to identify ways we can further enhance the programs and resources we offer our employees, their families and the communities we serve.”
As part of its Total Rewards benefits program, ERIE offers an incentive-based well-being program, annual biometric screenings, dedicated wellness representatives and several voluntary health education programs. Employees also have access to facilities and resources including an onsite gym, gym membership discounts for field employees, nutrition counseling, adoption and fertility assistance, financial counseling, personalized assistance, onsite behavioral health counseling and ergonomic workspace evaluations.
The Business Group evaluated employers based on their overall strategy, leadership and culture; well-being in the work environment; and employee experience, engagement and work-life support.
“On behalf of the entire Business Group, I’d like to congratulate Erie Insurance on being named a best employer for excellence in health and well-being,” said Ellen Kelsay, president and CEO, Business Group on Health. “This year was especially difficult for companies as they faced many challenges to keep their workers engaged, productive and healthy. ERIE is among an elite group of employers who recognize the positive impact these types of programs can have on their employees’ productivity, engagement and overall well-being.”
