ERIE ranked No. 18 on list of 500 large employers recognized in this prestigious annual study

ERIE, Pa., April 29, 2021Erie Insurance (NASDAQ: ERIE) has been named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Employers for Diversity 2021. Of the 500 companies recognized, Forbes ranked ERIE No. 18 nationally and the top company in Pennsylvania.

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to survey 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees and pinpoint the companies they identified as being most dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion. This is the second consecutive year Erie Insurance was recognized by Forbes for its diversity and inclusion efforts.

According to Erie Insurance President and CEO Tim NeCastro, strong corporate diversity and inclusion commitments should be measured not just in words or intentions, but in its actions over time.

“We appreciate the recognition by Forbes of the strong diversity and inclusion efforts of our employees,” said NeCastro. “We also understand that we must continue to do our part to overcome the barriers faced by many due to historic systemic discrimination.”

ERIE has had a formal commitment to diversity and inclusion for more than a decade. NeCastro is also one of more than 2,000 CEOs to sign the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

As major American companies, we all need to do more to enhance fairness, diversity, equity and inclusion in our organizations,” added NeCastro.

Diversity and inclusion are foundational to ERIE’s talent acquisition and retention plans and efforts, learning and development initiatives, coaching and mentoring opportunities and the work of the company’s employee resource groups and affinity networks.

“At ERIE, we strive to create an environment where our customers, agents and employees reflect the diversity of the communities where we all live and work,” said Dionne Wallace Oakley, executive vice president, human resources and strategy. “We are committed to our diversity and inclusion journey because we recognize that the things that make us unique as individuals also make us strong as an organization.”
