Erie Insurance (ERIE), a nearly 100-year-old insurance company that operates in 12 states and the District of Columbia, has earned a global distinction as one of only four U.S.-based insurers named to all three of Forbes “World’s Best Insurance Companies” lists for 2023.
Forbes ranked the best insurance companies in three areas: homeowners, auto and life insurance. Erie Insurance ranked #5 in the U.S. for auto, #7 in the U.S. for homeowners, and #11 in the U.S. for life.
As a regional insurer in the United States, this global recognition speaks to the value of ERIE’s commitment to service, according to Lorianne Feltz, executive vice president, Claims and Customer Service.

To compile these lists, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista and surveyed more than 30,000 people in 15 countries between mid-March and mid-April. The survey asked about customers’ general satisfaction, overall recommendation, and loyalty. Respondents also rated their insurance company on the advice employees offered, customer service, price performance, transparency, and damage service. Those reviews were transformed into score values and the companies with the highest scores in their countries made the final lists.
In addition to these recognitions, Erie Insurance also appears on Forbes lists of America’s Best Insurance Companies and America’s Best-In-State Employers.
