Support for Ohio Customers Affected by COVID-19

In accordance with the moratorium issued by The Ohio Department of Insurance on March 30, 2020 and in line with ERIE’s commitment to being Above all in Service, ERIE is offering special accommodations for Ohio Customers. The accommodations apply to Customers in all counties within the state.

We hope that these measures will be helpful during this difficult time.

Policy Cancellations and Billing

ERIE will withdraw notices of cancellation for nonpayment of premium effective on or after March 30, 2020. We will also refrain from issuing any new notices of cancellation for nonpayment of premium to affected Customers until May 29, 2020. While ERIE will continue to mail their billing notices, we will not issue non-pay cancellations at this time. 1

Customers who are having a difficult time paying their bills may request a premium deferment. The deferment will provide at least 60 days’ grace period for the payment of policy premium. If you need to defer your payments, please contact your local ERIE agent or call Customer Care at (800) 458-0811, ext. 3000.

Other Policy Extensions

ERIE is also granting extensions of at least 60-days on any policy provisions or other requirements that impose a time limit for an insured or claimant to perform any act, including submission of a claim, proof of loss or reporting information.

Additionally, if repairs on an affected property cannot be completed within the time period required under any policy, ERIE will provide the Customer with at least 60-days extension to complete the necessary repairs. This includes repairs requested by ERIE’s underwriting department as a condition of the renewal of a policy.
