Policy Cancellations and Billing
For customers in the affected counties, ERIE will withdraw notices of cancellation for nonpayment of premium effective on or after September 25, 2024. We will also refrain from issuing any new notices of cancellation for nonpayment of premium to affected customers until November 30, 2024. Policyholders will have the option to defer making premium or debt payments until 30 days after the end of the 60-day moratorium period (i.e., to December 30, 2024). While ERIE will continue to mail their billing notices, we won’t issue non-pay cancellations at this time1.
If you need to defer your payments, please contact your local ERIE agent or call Customer Care at (800) 458-0811, ext. 3000.
If you have a question about how to start a claim or need to speak with a representative about a previously reported claim, please call (800) 367-3743 for support 24/7.
Non-Renewals
In addition, per the state’s directive, ERIE will suspend issuing notices of non-renewal to Customers in the affected counties during the moratorium period. ERIE will also withdraw notices of non-renewal to Customers in the affected counties with effective dates after September 25, 2024.
Other Policy Extensions
ERIE will grant extensions to December 30, 2024 for any policy provisions or other requirements that impose a time limit for an insured or claimant to perform any act, including submission of a claim, proof of loss or reporting information.
If repairs on an affected property are not completed within the time period required under any policy, ERIE will provide the Customer with a reasonable extension to December 30, 2024. This includes repairs requested by ERIE’s underwriting department as a condition of renewal of the policy.
Support
ERIE also will consider accommodation requests from customers who have been affected in counties surrounding those specifically named above.
1 If you are an affected Customer who needs to temporarily defer your payment, please be advised that the temporary accommodations provided by ERIE as a result of the moratorium do not relieve you of your responsibility for paying the premiums due under your policy when the moratorium is over.
