Life Insurance Riders Personality Quiz

by Erie Insurance on October 13, 2025

Life Insurance shouldn’t come as one-size-fits-all because, well, everyone’s life is different. To help everyone get the proper coverage for them and their families, Erie Family Life Insurance Company (EFL) offers an array of riders to add to your policy.

What is a life insurance rider?

Options fit for your life

Think of them like upgrading your car to get more features not on the base model.

A rider is an add-on that provides additional coverages or benefits to your insurance policy. The advantages of adding a rider are numerous: they allow you to better customize your life insurance, typically cost far less than purchasing a policy just to get a specific coverage and are often adjustable over time.

So, what riders does ERIE offer to enhance their life insurance policies? Here are a few of our most popular ones:

Guaranteed Insurability Option

Lock in the right to increase your coverage

A Guaranteed Insurability Option rider[1] allows you to purchase additional insurance later, even if a health condition deems you “uninsurable” down the road. The GIO rider locks you into the risk class that you are in when you purchase it, meaning you can purchase additional coverage at that rate.

Accelerated Death Benefit

Access part of your benefit early

Most EFL policies have an inherit rider that allows you to receive part of your policy’s death benefit while you’re still living. Any advance will reduce the benefit paid to your beneficiaries. Funds can help cover health expenses, including clinical trial and treatments not covered by your health insurance. Certain restrictions and conditions may apply.

Long-term Care

Help cover long-term care expenses

ERIE offers a Long-term Care rider. Click here for more information.

Waiver of Premium Benefit

Keep your coverage, even if you can’t work due to disability

This rider waives the premiums on your term or whole life policy if you become totally disabled providing you the peace of mind that your life insurance premiums will continue to be paid.
