  1. Step 1: Start your claim

    Option 1: Call Your ERIE Agent

    Get in touch with your local ERIE agent to start your claim. Talking with someone you already know and who is familiar with the claims process can help put your mind more at ease.

  2. Step 2: Work with a case manager

    We'll put you in touch with a case manager, who will get to work to fix the identity fraud problem. Here are some of the things that a case manager will do for you:

    • Contact the fraud departments of the three major credit bureaus to place a fraud alert on your credit file. This alert requires creditors to contact you before opening any new accounts or making any changes to your existing accounts.
    • Order copies of your credit report from all three major credit bureaus to review recent activity.
    • Close accounts that were opened fraudulently.
    • Write letters on your behalf to the Social Security Administration, the Department of Motor Vehicles or other agencies.
    • Keep detailed records of the steps taken and remaining to restore your identity.

    Rest assured, the case managers would treat your personal information with the utmost security. Each case manager is a state licensed investigator and must complete continuing education requirements each year. They also go through an extensive interview process that includes a county, state and national criminal check, fingerprint analysis and credit report check.
